For over 5 years, I've been tracking the ratings of the games we play at the Westbank Gamers. After each game, I ask each player for their rating on a 1-10 scale and enter the data on an Excel spreadsheet. The system then drops the lowest and highest rating and averages the remaining ratings.
For the compilation, I've established '6' as the minimum number of votes necessary in order for a game to be eligible. I've put a note at the bottom with a few games that have received high ratings, but have not been rated by at least 6 people.
Further, it is interesting to note that some of the games are polarizing and will usually only be played by those folks who are fans of the game. Thus, the ratings for these games will tend to remain high as those who prefer not to play such games will shy away from them and, therefore, not render a rating. Longer, "wargamish" style games fall into this category. I postulate that this is the reason games such as Advanced Civilization, Machiavelli and Britannia remain high on our list.
Ties in ratings were broken by ranking games based on the number of ratings a game has received.

Comments: Since I (and my wife) consider myself a game fanatic and enjoy just about any game I play, a ?Top Ten? list of my favorite games was extremely difficult and agonizing for me. There are scores of other games that I could have easily included on this list -- games I thoroughly enjoy playing. And that is how I ultimately decided to rank the games -- which ones I enjoy playing. It doesn?t mean they?re the most complex or intellectually challenging. Rather, it is what games I just have the most FUN playing. Further, there are many, many more games out there that I haven?t yet played .... but I?m working on it!

I was elated when Jim and I met via the internet. Judging from Joey?s initial list, it?s no surprise that his indoctrination in our hobby is via the miniatures venue.
